2. Preparation of the Solution: A solution of borax and boric acid is prepared, typically in a ratio of 1:1. The concentration of the solution is adjusted depending on the method of application and the desired level of protection. We use a  5% concentration when diluted in water.

3. Application of the Treatment:

  • Pressure Treatment: In some cases, the solution is applied using a pressure treatment system, which forces the preservative deep into the bamboo's fibers, ensuring maximum absorption.

  • Brushing or Spraying: For on-site treatments, brushing or spraying the solution onto the bamboo may be used, though this method is less effective for deep penetration.

4. Drying: After treatment, the Guadua must be dried again to reduce moisture content and ensure that the preservative is fully absorbed and effective.
